Why Robust Dynamics |
|
Robust Dynamics (RD)
is dedicated to total fulfillment of customer needs by providing a
comprehensive suite of engineering services directed at improving
product design for physical robustness. RD's corporate culture focuses
on partnership with clients to help ensure the achievement of goals such
as the optimization of design cycles and reduction of Research and
Development costs.
We will assist manufacturers in gaining a comprehensive understanding of
the behavior of the range of materials used in their products,
particularly how they respond to different loads and conditions. RD
provides expertise in accurately identifying material properties and in
material modeling for the efficient design of products.
These services are crucial in materials selection and the material
behavior identified can be coded for use in computer simulation
software. This enables simulation software to be utilized effectively
and minimizes prototype generation and wastage, and thereby the time to
bring new products into the market.

Robust Dynamic's Distinctive Advantages |
|
Robust Dynamics possesses several distinctive advantages over
conventional mechanical testing service providers:
* A Team of Highly Qualified Researchers and
Engineers with Focused Expertise and Experience in Enhancing Product
Robustness
Most of the researchers and engineers in RD's technical team have PhD
qualifications; RD's founding members are on faculty at the National
University of Singapore and the expertise provided stems from years of
research in stress analysis, impact mechanics, materials
characterization, mechanical testing and materials modeling.
* RD's Orientation-Control Drop Tester
RD has developed a Drop-Tester (patented) that is able to provide
consistent, repeatable and reliable drop tests required to assess the
robustness of products, prototypes and components under shock, impact
and sudden loads.
* Comprehensive Facilities and Equipment
The Drop-Tester is part of a comprehensive range of facilities in our
Laboratory, which is able to focus on handling our clients' needs, as
shown in the links under "Service" and "Product".
* Provision of a "One-Stop" suite of
engineering services essential to enhancing product robustness
We provide a convenient "one-stop center" for engineering services
essential to improving the physical robustness of products developed by
clients. These services range from materials characterization and drop
testing to material modeling, as described in the links under "Service"
and "Product".
* A Track Record of Successful Projects
Undertaken
Robust Dynamics has established a track record of successfully completed
projects for recognized Multi-National Corporations and Organizations,
as listed in the page on "Our Clients".

Who
should be interested |
|
Robust Dynamics offers a
complete suite of engineering services to help clients design better and
more robust products. We are experts in the physical responses of
structures, components and materials to rapidly applied loads. Our
expertise encompasses events ranging from the accidental dropping of
electronic consumer products onto the floor, ballistic penetration of
armor, foreign object impact damage on aircraft, to collision between
vehicles.
-
Automotive and Land Mass
Transportation - vehicle design; crashworthiness; impact absorption;
passenger safety (e.g. seat belts, child restraint seats); impact
resistance of motorway structures; collision of trains and rolling
stock, preservation of goods carried; crash padding materials, etc.
-
Aerospace Applications
- aircraft
crashworthiness; occupant survivability; damage induced by foreign
object impact on aircraft skins, tubing and new generation aircraft
materials; impact by accidental dropping of maintenance tools, etc.
-
Construction Industry
- in-site
assessment of concrete integrity via impact penetration testing;
resistance/behavior of construction materials under impact/blast
loading.
-
Electronic Consumer Products -
robustness and operational survivability of consumer devices such as
pagers, handphones, lap-top computers, calculators, remote
controllers, etc. when accidentally dropped.
-
Data Storage Devices - Head-disk
contact/impact in magnetic hard disk system.
-
Naval/Marine Applications -
collision between vessels or vessels and port/offshore structures;
hull damage; cracks in decks arising from firing of naval weapons;
etc.
-
Biomedical Engineering
- human
injury caused by impacts, sudden accelerations and shocks (e.g.
sports injuries, injury via car accidents, etc.); design of
protective equipment (crash and military helmets, shin guards,
blast-resistant boots), etc.
-
Defense/Military - design of
ordnance; penetration effectiveness of projectiles; penetration
resistance of materials and structures (e.g. amour, bullet-proof
vests, etc.); damage induced by impacts and blasts; operational
integrity of equipment under impulsive and shock loading; etc.
-
Packaging - impact absorption;
selection of packaging materials; design of efficient containers;
etc.
-
Leisure Equipment
- design of
sports equipment which are subjected to sudden, intense loads
(racquets, clubs, etc.).
-
Material Property Database for
Computational Simulation - dynamic mechanical testing to determine
dynamic material behavior and formulate appropriate material models
for simulation codes. Without accurate material characterization,
computational predictions of dynamic response are unreliable.
-
Others - structural damage from
seismic (earthquake) forces; explosive/electromagnetic forming; cratering; etc.
